I'm Hungry Again
I came across a really interesting (to put it gently) video of the development of the Practical Method in New Zealand. It reminded me of the rest of my first day training in Boston.
I had foolishly planned a date with a girl immediately after training in Boston for the first time. After hours of box horse, I was drenched in sweat and was pretty filthy, but my 18 year old brain was fixated on zooming off to the date. When I showed up looking like a dirty sock, my date asked me what I was doing that was so intense. In my infinite wisdom, I actually told her "oh I was doing Tai Chi" not realizing at all the mistake I made, thinking that she would instantly understand and fall in love with me. Her next response 5 minutes into the date was "... yeah it seems really hard to move so slowly and stuff. My mom teaches Tai Chi."
In that instant I knew I would never see her again. I only knew a really shitty box horse so I couldn't even attempt to show her something and rectify my mistake. Watching this video reminded me of what she must have thought I was doing.
