Welcome and thank you for being a part of this resource. Let me start this explanation by saying that I am not a particularly commercial teacher and have never had the slightest desire to sell Chen Taijiquan online. I would probably choose to have dental reconstructive surgery before volunteering to sell people mystical costume-play online. I have experimented with online teaching before and found it to be very challenging, given that the only level of training I am interested in is the traditional one. I originally had a rather simple idea to support the needs of my long term students during the isolation of the virus outbreak with online video lessons. This project began to expand very rapidly when the number of interested people with different levels became apparent and made the need for a legitimate library of reference material to be effective for live lessons.
There is a public area and forum on this site that you all can see. We appreciate your participation and discussion and sharing, everyone is welcome. this will definitely not be the place for a juvenile, chaotic free-for-all but it will be a great place for fun and interesting discussion around the topic of interest. There are also 2 levels of training areas available by subscription.
The first level, "Courtyard" is for long term, returning and workshop students, and is application/invitation only for new students on the basis of suitability and long term dedication to the art. (this will included the previously independent level called "Westgate" for which individual subscription has been discontinued)
It will include:
1) unlimited use of its forum for discussion, question, answer and guidance by both the teacher and senior students
2) access to video topics of the week/month, as well as an expanding library of very detailed topic and instructional videos of a technical nature covering bitter structural basics, fundamental and functional drills, Yilu structure and function, application and Jin.
3) weekly group Zoom lessons to correct and work on that material.
Multiple student groups, focus will be arranged based on level and progress. Some specific additional detailed topic focus videos may be available for purchase to those ready for them.
Subscription $120 monthly.
Second level of subscription is "Wulin" which is for Tudi only.
For clarity, any subscription gets access to most of the forums below their level, provided they have progressed that far in the training material.
I have already taken on a number of purchases and subscriptions myself to make this site functional and will continue to maintain those. That and the time effort I will be required to invest does require some contribution from the membership, though everyone is welcome to use the public level for free unlimited. At this time I will be making some price adjustments for those significantly economically effected by the virus shutdown, but I cannot do that for new beginners.
At the moment I am still building out the site and uploading content, after a long time sorting out the technical side of things. Again I am sorry for the delay, but planning such a huge venture was never my strong point, nor is the technical side which has a steep learning curve. I am going to make the subscriptions available very soon, but the sections will not yet be full of material and there are still plenty of technical issues to be addressed. I am doing my best for my students here within this format. Those who want to join now (early) will be welcome and we will start piece by piece with your participation helping me to learn how to arrange it all. We will bgin by addressing specific topics/curriculumi according to the groups that join.
Those who want to wait until it is well under way are also welcome to do so. You will notice there is a donation tab at the top as well, which is always welcome, but not obligated.
