TaiJi Ball

So I've always wondered what's the weight of this stone ball Chen Yu was using. Like, is it granit? Marin I think you said you use a med ball instead ? Did you try to have the same size or rather the same weight than the one Chen Yu used? because there are some guys selling some atlas stone for strongman training that could do the job maybe?

Yeah that one is probably solid granite or something similar. I am sure it weighs at least 40 pounds, it is miserable. I don't try to have the same size and weight. I don't even do the same exercises. I found his to be just too heavy for my situation, but it would good for many. I have some fiberglass and stone ones as well of varying sizes and weights. It depends what one wants to achieve. Strongman stone balls would be fine but they are usually quite large and heavy.

the one he is using is like what 25-30 cm? on this french website they have an atlas stone of 20 kg (40 pounds) (that's their minimal weight, they go up to 110 kg = 242 pounds ), for a circumference of 81 cm, thus a diameter of 81 / 3,141= 24 cm = 9,44 inches. But it is marble, 220 euros😭.

Else there are some decoration sphere for garden, there is a website that sell 20 cm (7,87inches) granit diameter sphere, for 79 euros, or marble one for 99 euros. I've contacted them to know the weight. They also sell 30 cm diameter.

regarding the goal one wants to achieve, there can be only one Marin, having big arms to impress the girls on the beach...

Those types of things are also available in the US. I just avoided it. Definitely a nice option, but just me personally when it gets very heavy it is like a dead weight, although a round one. It is more like weight lifting, and that is fine, but I have other purposes for the ball that dead weight does not work for. I still might like it at certain times, but the final drawback for me is that they are both very heavy, and very hard. The likelihood of dropping that during practice is quite high and it will literally break the floor. Therefore it is only for outdoor practice.
